Bread Rolls

So if you love to bake, Bread Rolls are something which will always fascinate you in terms of how do you actually make them? They are really super easy if you get just two simple things in the process of making them right , i,e, the activation of the yeast (which is majorly important to make bread) and the kneading which will require a little bit effort. But nothing will make you more happier if you are interested in baking than a soft and hot batch of bread rolls as its the part classic basics of baking.

I have been making these for quite a while now and so i thought that i should absolutely write a post for it. So here it goes..

Ingredients:

  • Refined flour - 200 gms
  • Salt - 2-3 gms
  • Yeast - 5 gms
  • Sugar - 15 gms
  • Margarine or Unsalted butter - 15 gms
  • Water (luke warm) - 110-120 ml
  • Egg - 1

Method:

  • Grab a cup and dissolve sugar and yeast in it and keep it in a warm place and let it yeast activate.
  • Sieve the flour with salt. Clean up your kitchen slap and form a well with the sieved flour and salt.
  • Pour the activated yeast into the well and very slowly start kneading the dough and getting it together. Knead till dough is really soft.
  • Cream the margarine/butter , add it to the dough and knead it well again. Keep in a warm place lightly covered with a damp cloth for about half an hour.
  • Next step is dividing the dough into 6-8 portions and shaping them into rounds or other shapes.
  • Place the on a greased tray under a damp wet cloth in a warm place until double in size (approx 20-30 mins).
  • Lightly whisk an egg and brush onto the rolls and bake them in the oven at 210 C for 10-15 minutes, the crust will be golden brown. After baking brush them with oil or butter to get a shiny gloss.

Note:
*You will get to know that your yeast has been activated when the water has a little foam on top and it smells fermented.
*You need to knead the dough really well , till soft. The dough while kneading will be sticky at first ,  no need for you to add extra flour, it will get better as you keep kneading. The soft dough will be like a pillow to touch.
*Kneading the dough with fat will also be pretty sticky , here you can dust a little extra flour but not much. This will also get better more kneading.
*You must sprinkle some water on the rolls while they are baking or before baking on the tray as it will keep the rolls moist while baking and the rolls will turn out to be nice and soft.
*The brushing of the egg should be light and thin , not thick brushing.

Its not a tough job to make bread rolls , just get the steps right and you will be perfectly alright. Enjoy them hot with preserves, butter or mouth watering nutella.
